Yarmouth Guide

What is there to do in Yarmouth?

Quaint antique stores, mesmerising art galleries and fascinating museums – Yarmouth is a modern hotbed of art and culture. After a brief four year hiatus, the ferry connecting the US and Nova Scotia has returned, allowing more fortunate passengers to revel in the beguiling atmosphere that engulfs the verdant scenery and beautiful natural parks – the pinnacle being Frost Park situated in the centre of the town – the perfect place to sit with a book and admire the spectacular views. Continuing the glorious aesthetics is Cape Forchu Lightstation, declared as Canada’s Greatest Public Space in 2012 and showcasing the powerful landmarks scattered around the town. The beautiful great outdoors can be tempting to explore for the entirety of your trip, however, that would be ignoring the vast array of activities and notable buildings in Yarmouth; W. Laurence Sweeney Fisheries Museum and Firefighters’ Museum of Nova Scotia highlight unique and overlooked areas of the town, and the Waterfront Gallery displays some of the best art created around the region.

How do you get around Yarmouth?

The town is fairly small so you can walk a lot of the centre, and there are taxis frequently available for quick and convenient transport.
