Larvik Guide

Larvik Ferry Port

The small city of Larvik, located in one of the deep-blue Baltic sea inlets that pepper the southern coast of Norway, is a municipality famed for its natural springs of mineral water. It’s an area that possesses bundles of laid-back local charm. Streets criss-cross between manicured lawns of well-kept homes and into the centre of town, forming an urban space that is ringed on three sides by verdant forests of beech and fir trees. The city’s attitude to preserving its distinct environment is epitomised by the nearby Fritzøehus park. This country estate, built in an impressive 19th Century English-style, is dedicated to conserving the area’s rich variety of fauna and flora including species of fallow deer. The port in Larvik is a small but neatly designed. Two lanes feed in and out of the harbour towards a large cruise terminal owned by Color Line ferries. This modern building features plenty of facilities and sits beside a bus route that leads directly into the centre of town. The port is connected to most of the Norway’s southern coastline via the E18 motorway, a route that leads into the capital city of Oslo an hour and a half away. Currently only one passenger route sails from the port. A Color Line service leaves the terminal multiple times each week, heading the relatively short distance southwards across the North Sea to the small port town of Hirtshals in Denmark.
