Laem Sok Ferry Port

Travel from Laem Sok to Koh Mak and Koh Kood, two of Thailand’s most popular tourists destinations. The ferries run frequently throughout the week, with crossings to Koh Kood lasting around an hour and crossings to Koh Mak taking only around 20 minutes.

It is a huge commercial port, offering tourists the chance to buy souvenirs and sample the local cuisine in quaint cafes. For those interested in browsing the shops, Harbor Mall lays on the main road next to the port and hosts a couple of supermarkets, perfect for any last minute purchases. The crossings are typically quite short meaning there is a lack of facilities whilst on board the vessels, so it is best advised that passengers bring their own food and drink.

Despite the volume of traffic passing through the port, there are limited options for public transport to the ferry terminals. The train service is regarded as slow and infrequent whilst the buses only run from the capital city of Bangkok to Pattaya - another port in Thailand. The most worthwhile option is to arrange a transfer from one of the private taxi services, or risk a metred taxi but they can oftentimes be relatively expensive. Baht is usually the only currency accepted in Thailand, with the best exchange rates given to US dollars. There are numerous ATM’s dotted around the area for any emergency cash.
